The most common questions I receive when talking with clients relate to the cost of replacing or repairing their air conditioner. As a consumer, I understand the underlying concern of money when they question me. As a professional though, I know that there’s more to air conditioning than just money. In a very common piece of American literature, “The Road Not Taken,” Robert Frost describes two roads. One less traveled, with more apparent adventure; and another road that has been traveled more frequently. I can’t think of a better metaphor for making a decision on purchasing the right air conditioning unit to cool your Florida home. On the one hand, the consumer possesses the option to purchase their a/c unit based on price alone (the path less traveled). This has a cheaper up-front cost, but most assuredly results in higher maintenance and replacement fees in the future. Conversely, when a job is done properly, the end result is a more efficient way to manage the heating and cooling of a home and is sustainable over a longer period of time. The option belongs to the consumer; but there’s a reason that service from my company offers a TEN-YEAR warranty on labor and parts versus the competition, who offers only 12-months of assurance on similar services.
